Granite Care:

What should you use for everyday cleaning?

Once your stone is sealed with our 15-year stone sealer, clean-up is a snap!

Clean your countertop with a few drops of mild dish detergent followed by drying with a paper towel or a soft cloth.

We also recommend using our can of 3-in-1 Cleaner-Polish-Protect, once a week to revitalize the shine (if used too often, you could end up with a build-up).

The use of food-safe stone cleaners sold at hardware stores are also recommended.

Please avoid using cleaning products that contain lemon, vinegar, bleach or ammonia, which can etch away the polish.

Beware of etching

Etching is a result of a chemical reaction that occurs when acid comes in contact with a surface. Etch marks on stone surfaces resemble water spots or a worn polish.

The sealer we use will give you time to wipe up a spill, but it cannot stop a chemical reaction that may leave a dull mark.

Do’s & Dont’s:

  • Do clean up spills immediately to minimize damage to your stone.

  • Do use trivets or mats under hot cookware and dishes

  • Do use placemats under china, ceramics, and heavy objects that could scratch your stone’s surface.

  • Do use coasters under glasses.

  • Don’t use cleaners that contain acid such as grout cleaners or tub and tile cleaners.

  • Don’t use vinegar, bleach or ammonia products.

  • Don’t use abrasive cleaners such as soft cleansers.

  • Don’t use alkaline cleaners not specifically formulated for stone.

Quartz is a non-porous surface. You will never have to apply a sealer to the surface.

What should you use for everyday cleaning?

Clean your countertop with a few drops of mild dish detergent followed by drying with a paper towel or soft cloth. We also recommend using our supplied can of 3-in-1 Cleaner-Polish-Protect, once a week to revitalize the shine (if used too often, you could end up with build-up).

Although quartz products are resistant to stains, spills should be cleaned as soon as possible. Liquid spills and stains from fruits, vegetables or other foods should be wiped up and cleaned with soap and water.

When you need a little more than mild soap and water, use a non-abrasive cleaning cloth along with the following recommended cleaners:

  • Simple Green

  • Denatured Alcohol

  • Stone Essentials Cleaner

Chemicals to Avoid:

  • Oil soaps, bluing agents, dyes, stains, paint thinners or strippers

  • Solvents such as acetone, nail polish remover, lacquer thinner or bleach

  • Chlorinated solvents such as trichloroethylene or methylene chloride

  • Benzene, toluene, methyl ethyl ketone

  • Chemicals with high alkaline/PH levels (pH > 10)

  • Concentrated acids such as hydrocyanic acid, hydrofluoric acid, hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid and nitric acid

Chips and Scratches:
Quartz is resistant to scratches, cuts and chipping. To reduce the possibility of damage, avoid cutting directly on the quartz surface. Chips, especially at edges, can be caused by impact. The use of cutting boards and taking precaution not to drop or move heavy objects on the surface will help to ensure long lasting beauty.

Do’s and Don’ts:

  • Do clean up spills immediately to minimize damage to your stone

  • Do use trivets or mats under cookware and dishes

  • Do use placements under china, ceramics and heavy objects that could scratch the countertop surface

  • Do use coasters under glassware or other drinkware that may condensate

  • Don’t use cleaners that contain acid such as grout cleaners or tub and tile cleaners

  • Don’t use vinegar, bleach or ammonia products

  • Don’t use abrasive cleaners such as soft cleansers

  • Don’t use alkaline cleaners not specifically formulated for stone
